ARTeFACT Pilot is part of a series of large paintings of objects that relate to the provenance and history of Théodore Géricault's (1791-1824) child portraits of Louise Vernet and the siblings Alfred and Élise Dedreux.
There is a sketch by Géricault of a soldier holding a glove in one hand, much like this German WWII pilot.
