broekpak Roi de Rome

acryl on canvas
115 x 160 x 3 cm
1996

Collection Museum van Bommel van Dam, Venlo

In 1998 this painting was selected to be in the exhibition for de Koninklijke subsidie voor de schilderkunst in Paleis op de Dam, Amsterdam (NL). The art-editor of 'de Volkskrant' Lucette ter Borg wrote some beautiful words on this painting in her news article:
'Camps transforms, with a reference to to the french romantic painter Théodore Géricault who died at a young age, a prosaic garment like a pantsuit into a melancholic, butterfly like creature. The body that was in this pantsuit seems to have slipped out of the garment, or the other way round, the garment slipped off the body.'
