Around 1817 Théodore Géricault painted the portrait of young Alfred Dedreux. In 1922 this portrait came up for sale with the title Le roi de Rome. This King of Rome was the title of Napoleon's son, which would make it a much desired portrait. But was it, or was someone 'fishing to be a king'?
